Students will be working on creating their project for NHD "Taking a Stand." This project is a major grade (10% Citizenship) and will be due Thursday April 6th! Students will be given 4 days in class to work on the computers and with a group or partner who has the same topic. They will be provided with a choice board of 20 options to select their form of project, i.e timeline, google slides presentation, comic strip, documentary, newspaper or magazine, website (using weebly).

Learning Goal: Rain Forest- Everything humans do, both intentional and unintentional, affects the natural systems in which we live. We frequently try to modify our environment in an attempt to improve our lives in various ways. While the modifications may benefit some, rarely do they benefit all. This most often Deforestation results in a debate as to how beneficial or detrimental the modifications are.

They also will look for many different kinds of information from primary sources, books, or websites. Students will share their work by creating a project. Students will create this project for an in-class grade. While class time is given, this project may have components that are done outside of class as homework your teacher will chose due dates for this project and may have some variations for grade level.

Objective: describe basic types of map projections and compare how they display information including Mercator, Peters, and Robinson, and apply the concepts of scale, distance, direction, relative location, absolute location, and latitude and longitude.
Students will continue map skills practice this week. Monday and Tuesday students went to the dell lab to complete a google maps assignment over the major landmarks around the world. Wednesday students practice their map skills by using a road/highway map of Oklahoma. Thursday students completed two assignments using directions and a street map grid. Friday students will study current events/election coverage.

Underhill:
Students will work on several skill building activities that will help foster cooperative learning! Students will learn from a mini lesson how to access their student log in for the computer, student/parent portal, and moodle. This week students will be introduced to the dell lab as we begin our first citizenship lesson over current events.
Learning goal/objective: foster citizens who can think critically and engage in the civic life of their community, the state, and nation. All Oklahoma students must become literate citizens to become effective, productive, and engaged participants in both our nation’s economic and political systems.
